Business Meet Simplicity with Windows Storage Server NAS

03/10/2015Thecus is the first OEM to deliver new NAS appliances based on Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials. Microsoft recently released a getting started video to introduce the feature-rich, cloud-ready NAS product.

Based on Windows software, the Essentials NAS acts much like a PC. The start-up is aimed at being friendly for even a first-time NAS user.  The video below gives a detailed introduction to the process including the following:

  1. Initial power-up – When you turn on the unit for the first time, the Configure Windows Server Essentials wizard will run and guide you through the process.
  2. Setup anywhere access –It allows you to access your data from almost anywhere, with almost any device, as long as you have an internet connection.
  3. Configure Windows Azure Backup –Sign up for a Microsoft Azure Backup subscription and backup your server to the cloud, as a means to help protect against catastrophes such as a fire, water damage, or theft of the NAS.
  4. Connect to Microsoft Office 365– It integrates your server with Microsoft Office 365—an online subscription service that provides email, shared calendars, plus online document creation and editing to list but a few.

All models are now available, and at a very budget friendly price, (W2000 – $349, W4000, $449, W5000 – $549, Essentials license included) the new WSS NAS from Thecus are steaming with value.
