Business Meet Simplicity with Windows Storage Server NAS
03/10/2015 – Thecus is the first OEM to deliver new NAS appliances based on Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials. Microsoft recently released a getting started video to introduce the feature-rich, cloud-ready NAS product.
Based on Windows software, the Essentials NAS acts much like a PC. The start-up is aimed at being friendly for even a first-time NAS user. The video below gives a detailed introduction to the process including the following:
- Initial power-up – When you turn on the unit for the first time, the Configure Windows Server Essentials wizard will run and guide you through the process.
- Setup anywhere access –It allows you to access your data from almost anywhere, with almost any device, as long as you have an internet connection.
- Configure Windows Azure Backup –Sign up for a Microsoft Azure Backup subscription and backup your server to the cloud, as a means to help protect against catastrophes such as a fire, water damage, or theft of the NAS.
- Connect to Microsoft Office 365– It integrates your server with Microsoft Office 365—an online subscription service that provides email, shared calendars, plus online document creation and editing to list but a few.
All models are now available, and at a very budget friendly price, (W2000 – $349, W4000, $449, W5000 – $549, Essentials license included) the new WSS NAS from Thecus are steaming with value.
