First Impressions – NEST Thermostat

NEST thermometer

Here at Simply.Reviews, we’re in the process of moving to a new office. The building is rather old and musty, but we’ve been able to put some of our love for technology into the place through our NEST thermostats. Our currently bare white walls are broken up by these circular niceties, and for good reason. You normally wouldn’t wax poetic over a mere thermostat, to be quite frank, but these little babies are suh-weeeeeeeeet! It’s very easy to change the temperature; with the roll of a dial you can select the right temperature for your needs, and the display lets you know the current temperature, the target temperature, and an estimate of how long it will take for the AC to accommodate you. We also have three thermometers in the office, which all report different temps based on the actual temperature in the room. Although I suppose that’s normal for thermometers, isn’t it? Well, that’s where the normal thermometer stuff ends, each one can be connected to your internal Wifi network. You can use this functionality to access the thermometers on your mobile devices and change them from a remote location, so if you’re just coming into the office and it’s blistering hot outside, turn the AC on. You forgot to turn off the AC? No more dealing with a high power bill, turn it off from the car. Going home after a long day? Turn it on. The benefits are numerous. I just hope the product holds up over time… (Hint, you’ll probably be hearing from us down the line in the long term labs section regarding these thermometers.)
